The City of Vaughan is making progress on designing and developing a new 7.7-hectare (19-acre) district park at the northwest corner of Peter Rupert Avenue and Rutherford Road. The proposed park will be dynamic, welcoming and inspiring, and it will feature a wide range of amenities for the entire community to enjoy. With places and spaces for kids to play, event staging for concerts, relaxing seating zones and so much more, people of all ages and abilities will be able to use this new outdoor area.

The new park is bounded by the Cook Woodlot to the north, a future residential community to the east, an existing stormwater pond to the south and the CPR/GO rail corridor to the west. Once complete, the park will become a destination for residents and visitors to gather, play and explore.

Based on community feedback, the City has confirmed which amenities will be included within the park and has moved into the next phase of the project – developing the layout and landscape design concepts. Two potential park concepts have been designed for review and comment.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Engagement on the new district park on Peter Rupert Avenue is now closed. A summary of what we heard from the community throughout the project is outlined in the Public Engagement Summary Report (PDF).

From Thursday, July 29 to Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, the City invited the community to view a presentation to learn more about the two park concepts and provide input by completing a survey. Thank you to those who participated.

Your feedback will help the City understand the community’s preferences and inform the final park design. Check back often for more updates as they become available.
