Sports Village Park Study
Consultation has concluded
Have your say on what amenities are needed in Sports Village Park!
The City of Vaughan is conducting a needs assessment of Sports Village Park to better understand how you and your neighbours currently use the park, how you’d like to use the park in the future, what new amenities you’d like added and which of those should be prioritized.
Are more amenities needed to support children’s play, like a playground? Is the park missing spaces to enjoy nature, like a pollinator garden?
Get involved!
Engagement on Sports Village Park is now closed.
From Tuesday, July 11 to Tuesday, Aug. 8 the City invited the Vaughan community to review, prioritize and comment on potential new amenities in Sports Village Park.
Thank you to those who participated! Based on your feedback, City staff will develop cost estimates and submit a budget request to Vaughan Council through the City’s annual budget process.
What is a needs assessment study?
Before a park can be designed and developed, staff must submit a budget request to Council for their approval during the annual budgeting process. In order to inform this ask, City staff complete a needs assessment study that includes:
- an inventory and analysis of current site conditions, community demographics and area needs based on standards set in the 2018 Active Together Master Plan.
- community input on the park’s current design, use and desired new amenities.
Using this information, City staff develop high-level cost estimates. If the budget is approved by Council, the City can proceed with park design and construction.
What about the Sports Village complex?
The operation of the Sports Village complex and programming offered are not included in this study, including the main building, all parking lots, outdoor volleyball area, skating trail and patio grounds.
The area in scope for this project and survey includes the open greenspace, senior baseball diamond and junior baseball diamond.
